Importance of horses, in Islam

Prophet Muhammad Peace be upon him used to love horses. He said goodness is touching with the forehead of the horse till doomsday. (Bukhari, co:1p399)In the period of the Prophet, horses were used in crusades. However, it is prohibited to bring up horses for show off. (Bukhari, chapter: horses)

Horse races in the Prophet time:

 Prophet Muhammad( PBUH)  used to encourage the horse racing, in his own time he participated in it, sometimes he himself used to racehorses. Unconditional horse racing without betting is considered as a decent work in Islam.

Horse meat:

Horse meat is not permitted in Islam.Asma Bint Abi Bakr said: in the period of the Prophet we ate horse meat. It means it was permitted in the early period of Islam, after that prohibited.  Imam Abu Haneefa said:horse meat is Makrooh,(should not be utilized)not Haram or taboo. All Imams almost unanimously agreed that the horse meat is restricted in makrooh form. All jurist of Islamic fiqh agreed that horse is instrument of deffence or struggle therefore it's meat not to be utilized.It should be used as a instrument of defences.

Zakat in horses:

Imam Abu Haneefa said: There is zakat in horses, other jurists of Islamic fiqh said: There is no Zakat in horses.
Umar Bin Al Khattab used to received Zakat of horses.
Horse's Half eaten:
Horse's half-eaten may be used.
