The suspect was a 15-year-old Mexican boy. He was caught stealing from a store. While he was attempted to escape from the guard’s grip (when caught), a store shelf was also broken during the resistance.
The judge heard the Chargesheet and asked the boy,
Judge: “Did you really steal something?”
Boy: “Yes, the bread and cheese.”
Judge: “Why?”
Boy: “because I needed it.”
Judge: “You could have bought.”
Boy: “I had no money.”
Judge: “You could take from your family”
Boy: “I have only a mother at home. She is sick and unemployed. I stole bread and cheese for her.”
Judge: “Why don’t you do any job?”
Boy: “I was working in a car wash. I took one day off for mom’s care, because of that they fired me from the job.”
Judge: “You could have asked for help”
Boy: “I was aking for help since morning. However, no one helped me.”
Then hearing ended and the judge began to make a decision. The judge announces the decision,
“Stealing of a Bread is the worst crime. And we are all responsible for this horrible crime. including me, everybody in the courtroom is guilty of this theft. I impose a fine of $10 on each person here and myself. Yes, no one can leave the court without paying ten dollars.”
Saying that the judge took $10 out of his pocket and put it on the table. Then the judge says,
“Also, The court imposes a fine of $1000 on the store administration, for treating a hungry child as inhumanly and handing him over to the police. The store have to pay the fine within 24 hours, otherwise, the court would order the store to be sealed.”
The final remarks of the verdict were: “The court apologizes to the boy while paying the fine, collected from the store management and the audience.
After hearing the verdict, the audience had tears in the eyes, and the boy’s hiccups were tied. And he was repeatedly calling the judge a God, a God.
