Born in 910 Hijri, he was appointed as a governor of Sirhind in the period of Emperor Akbar the great. He built in Sirhind, number of tremendous historical buildings and gardens which are now as well, telling their grandeur's story despite the long period. One garden name was No lakha because it had Nine lakh trees. In the age of ninety years on Shwwal, 1001 hi-jri/1592, he died in Sirhind, buried in the garden. Sheikh Faizi Sirhindi on his death said historical poetry in Persian as under:
زباغ جہاں رفت نواب حافظ
کزاں رفتنش خلق بے تاب شد
نماندہ کنوں باغ را رونقی
رخی گل ازیں درد خونناب شد
کشید آہ بلبل بزد نعرۂ
بگفتا بگو,باغ بے آب شد
Nawab Hafiz passed away from the garden of the world. On his demise, people are annoyed. Now after him there is no brightness in the garden, the face of the flower by this ache became blood like. The bubble shouted in grief with a sad song and said: tell the people garden has no brightness.
